Hello

Hi, I'm Simon Nguyen. I like making things. I like puns. I've been passionate about making videos from a young age. I'm a primarily self-taught photographer and videographer. I graduated from Portland State University with a Bachelor of Sciences degree in film studies. I like to learn as much as I can about as much as I can.

I'm really passionate about food and cooking. My favorite food is a super-sweet, ripe champagne/ataulfo mango (the yellow teardrop-shaped ones).

My Story

I discovered my love of filmmaking at a very young age when I was playing around with my parents' Sharp Viewcam 8mm cassette camcorder. I would film videos around the neighborhood and short skits (that have long been lost to time) with my brother and our toys.

Simultaneously I learned to love cooking, eating, and learning about different kinds of food in general. I grew up watching re-runs of Jacques Pépin, Julia Child and Martin Yan on PBS; along with helping my mother and father in the kitchen, my passion for food begun to thrive lasting through to this day.

I also enjoy: traveling, photography, listening to podcasts, and playing both video/board games with my friends. I have been slowly learning to play the ukulele.
